Finders Keepers

The last couple of days our egg production has been a bit low. That is frustrating.

I was wracking my brain over what was going on and simultaneously petting the goats and giving them zucchini from the garden. I looked down and what?! What’s this!?

ImageTwo eggs just hanging out. Not in the nesting box where they’re supposed to be. (Also, see those yellow leaves on the ground? Yikes. Too soon! Too soon!)

I picked up the two eggs and caught a glimpse behind the crate that was sitting there. Come on ladies! This is ridiculous!

ImageWhy aren’t you following protocol?!

ImageWe took these in and candled them and then did the egg in water freshness test. All of them sunk right to the bottom of the glass and laid on their side. Nice, fresh eggs. (If they float they’re likely pretty old).

It may take a while to break them of laying in that spot so I’ll just start checking it everyday. Good grief girls!
